April kicks off with a literary journey as the Southern Lit Society Book Club meets on April 6 to discuss Shi Yang: Queen of the Pirates at the Robertson County Historical Society. This event is perfect for book lovers eager to explore Southern history through literature. Later in the month, families can enjoy a truly unique Easter experience at the Heli-Drop & Hop on April 12 at Red River Farms. This event features a helicopter egg drop, breakfast, a kid zone, and photo ops with the Easter Bunny. That same day, young space enthusiasts in grades 4-10 can participate in Mission: Astronomy at the Gateway STEM Center, a two-part event that includes a daytime learning session and an evening stargazing experience. For veterans and active-duty military personnel, the PGA HOPE Springfield golf session on April 14 at The Legacy Golf Course offers a chance to learn and enjoy the sport in a supportive environment.

May is packed with exciting events, starting with another installment of the Southern Lit Society Book Club on May 5, where participants will discuss I Was Anastasia. Food lovers will not want to miss the 2nd Annual King of The Craw Crawfish Boil Competition & Fish Fry on May 10 at the Robertson County Fairgrounds, where local chefs compete while attendees enjoy delicious seafood and community camaraderie. For those who appreciate the arts, ArtFest on May 17 at the Willow Oak Center for Arts and Learning offers a full day of live music, dance performances, arts and crafts activities, and cultural exhibitions—all for free! Finally, the month concludes with Evening in Elmwood on May 31, a historical event at Elmwood Cemetery hosted by the Robertson County Historical Society, featuring a catered meal and a unique look into local history.
